About our founder   

Dr. Jacobo Pena was born in the Dominican Republic. He graduated from INTEC University, in Santo Domingo in 2005 and then worked for four years in HIV research at The Dominican Institute of Virological Studies. He later moved to New York, where he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College at Metropolitan Hospital.

He later completed a post-doctorate research fellowship in cardiovascular and intravascular imaging at Mount Sinai Hospital. During that time, he published 16 peer reviewed research articles in multiple, renowned cardiology journals and also co-wrote a book chapter in vulnerable coronary plaques with Dr. Pedro Moreno, director of Cardiology at Mount Sinai Morningside. Doctor Pena has been practicing medicine for 18 years, 13 of which have been in Manhattan and the Bronx.

Dr. Pena specializes in internal medicine, primary care, hospital medicine and urgent care. He is fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. Dr. Peña is dedicated to his patients and their needs.
